The Grimm LS1 is not simply a speaker. It is (almost) your entire audio system. Within one of the legs of each speaker are NCore amplifiers and both a Digital to Analogue and Analogue to Digital converter. That means that digital and analogue sources can be connected directly to the speaker.
The crossover filters are all digital, so there is no degradation of sound quality and the sound is perfectly matched between the drivers. Phase alignment and other mild DSP (Digital Signal Processing) is applied to ensure the most realistic sound possible.
Perhaps this is why Audio magazine in Germany called it: “the best speakers we’ve tested in 35 years”.
